The work of early childhood is to play. Pretend play with toys facilitates children's language development, self-regulation, and emotional development. Play that uses our imaginations teaches us delayed gratification and, when shared, how to work together in community and be friends. We grow up using all of these skills over and over and over again to the ends of our lives.
Simply put, imaginative, non-structured play is essential to healthy human development.
And so I make dolls. Simple, washable dolls that can be childhood friends and snuggle companions. Dolls that can be cared for. Dolls that spark imaginative playtime during the day and provide comfort in the night.
